Rancho de León spans 45 acres in California’s Santa Clara River Valley. Here, the mild climate and rich, well-drained soils make it one of the most productive avocado regions in the world.
Once planted with lemons, this ranch is being transformed into 25 acres of high-density GEM avocados — a variety prized for its upright growth and abundant, larger fruit. Instead of burning the old lemon trees, which is common practice, we ground them into mulch and returned that biomass to the soil. This cycle of renewal is essential for making the most of the valley’s natural gifts and enriching the land for the next generation of avocados.
