SHAPING THE AVOCADO INDUSTRY
Beyond his ranches, Salvador served six years on the Hass Avocado Board, including three as Vice Chair and Chair. During that time, he guided national research proving avocados are indeed a superfood. He also championed the creation of the board’s first Sustainability Advisory Council, one of only three advisory groups in the board’s history. This ensured that sustainability became a priority not just for individual growers, but for the entire avocado industry supplying fruit to the U.S.

Salvador served three years on the California Avocado Commission, working with fellow growers to strengthen the state’s avocado industry. He’s welcomed groups from Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, and Peru to study his ranches, and even traveled to New Zealand to advise growers on high-density GEM plantings and resource-efficient practices.
